Good Morning! I’m coming to you with a little croak in my throat today… which makes me realize there is a benefit to writing, not necessarily talking to you guys. You’d never know!
I actually woke up to the strangest dream. In my dream, I went to the doctors and they told me I had a version of Mockingbird Flu. (Not to be confused with the traditional Bird Flu. Ha.) When I realized I got a flu shot this year, I jokingly expressed how typical that was and started putting the pieces together on where I got it from. Either one of my teammates, or the woodpecker outside my window that woke me up Saturday morning.
Then I woke up, looked around, and realized I didn’t even have Scott to tell this one to. Good thing I have you guys! My dreams have been really off the wall lately. I’d actually be curious to see what kind of interpretation someone would have for them.
Anyways, it’s Monday! How’s yours going so far? I’m about to get out the door for our final photoshoot, which is a pretty marvelous way to start the week.
In true weekend highlight fashion, I am linking up with Katie and many others to share the highlights of my very low key weekend.
Weekend for Me Time
The weekend actually started off on an adventurous note. I helped out with a high school homecoming parade that brought me back to a few fond memories.
(Hey there, HOOPER!)
I got home in just enough time to get ready and join a few friends of ours to celebrate a few birthdays in Ferndale.
It was a pretty fun time!
Saturday morning started a lot earlier than I would have liked it to with a sunrise airport drop-off. I’m going to pick Scott back up later this afternoon, so I’m comfortable sharing that it was just us girls for the remainder of the weekend.
(Oh and that guy, Roadie too.)
After a morning nap, I woke up a few hours later realizing I wasn’t feeling my best. This is the first weekend in a while where I haven’t had anything crazy planned, so I took full advantage of it.
Listening to my body, I rested on and off for majority of the afternoon with a handful of Friends episodes.
I have literally seen every episode of that show at least five times, but I still laugh just as hard as when I saw each one the first time. The characters are just so, so great.
Before I knew it, the sun was about to set and I was feeling a little better. I wanted to get outside while I still could and enjoy the beautiful weather we’ve been having with a run and ended up finishing six miles.
It wasn’t my fastest time (at a 9:31 pace), but it was still a run and an excuse to soak in the fall hues that have been turning up in our neighborhood. Just can’t get enough of it!
With a photoshoot today, I made a conscious effort to keep my eats extra lean and enjoyed yet another Subway chopped salad with chicken and a ton of veggies for dinner.
I really could have one of those a day. (And I might have just done that for the last three.) Oops!
The remainder of my night included hanging in with this guy.
There were a few matches of tug-o-war for entertainment, and I finally fell asleep for good after catching the beginning of Saturday Night live. Did you guys happen to catch this SNL highlight video?
It’s hilarious and is exactly what I picture Scott doing on trips where he gets to see some of his friends. Like this past one, where a group of them took a day before their event to go to Napa Valley. Just the guys. Hmmm. 😉
Sunday started with a team practice, which I seemed to have to push my body through. Maybe I was sore from the run, but I have a feeling my body is just starting to catch up with all of the craziness lately. When I got home, I set out on anything I needed to get done for the day so I could enjoy another quiet night in.
As soon as I realized how gorgeous it was again outside (can fall just stay around forever here?), my mood completely changed into a happy one. With the windows rolled down and music on, I enjoyed driving around town getting things done one stop at a time.
My favorite stop, however, was at a new nail salon for a pedicure. I rarely treat myself to them anymore, and reminded myself why I used to love them so much this time around.
A massage chair, an excuse to read about celebrity gossip, a foot massage and pretty toes as a result? I’m so there.
Needing a new bra to wear under my costumes at games, I finished up my day at Victoria’s Secret and may or may not have left with a lot more than that one bra.
Whoops!
I got home around 6:30 p.m. and applied a set of Kiss press-ons in the petite length for the shoot today.
For the price and look, I still swear by them for any kind of shoot or fancy event.
Dinner was less than creative when I decided I wanted a vegetable scramble. Hey, when it’s just me that is completely acceptable.
So easy in 1…

Before turning in for the night, I grabbed Roadie for a sunset jog and didn’t push myself too hard. I think we both loved getting outside and I returned feeling good.
I spent the rest of the night doing a series of core exercises (hello, bathing suit shots), and playing with dog toys.
Okay, maybe I mostly enjoyed watching Roadie do that. Whatever the case, it was surprisingly entertaining.
And that’s how I spent my weekend. Pretty low key with a lot of me time.
I can’t really complain, but I will say that I am excited to pick up the other half later on this afternoon. After the shoot, we have dinner date plans and you better believe I picked somewhere Italian. Yum.
Oh, and Happy Columbus Day! If you happen to have the day off, I hope you are enjoying it! 😀
What are some of your weekend highlights?
Are you enjoying the fall as much as I am?
Alisha @ Alisha's Appetite
Sounds like the perfect solo weekend! I love that when Scott is gone you still venture out of the house and do things for you. Have fun at your photo shoot today! I’m sure you will look gorgeous as usual 🙂
Miranda @ Lovely Wife Lovely Life
Friends is easily one of the funniest shows on tv. Haha! Props to you for getting out of the house when your hubby is gone! I’d probably take the time to do something in the house that he would have got in the way of. Haha!
Cassie
I love low key fall weekend, and Friends!
Rachel @ Running Rachel
I love days that you think are going to be totally lazy, and then all of a sudden this burst of energy comes and you have a great workout, or go for a long walk, and now lazy is the last thing you’d use to describe your day.
I also really appreciate that fact that you’re a fan of Subway salads like me. I always get the WEIRDEST looks from people when I order a salad at a sub shop, like it’s blasphemy to not have a 12-inch sandwich. Glad I’m not alone!
By the way I LOVE that striped and polka-dot dress – can you share where you got it? It looks fantastic on you!
Krista
Looks like you had a really good weekend! Have fun at the photoshoot!!
Lisa
Sounds like an awesome weekend! 🙂 I always seem to leave Victoria’s Secret with way more than I went there for!
Erica @ For the Sake of Cake
Aw, Roadie is so cute!
Ali
I love low key weekend and always try to schedule at least 1 easy weekend day if possible because I work so much during the week. This weekend, I was challenged to a gunny sack race at a local fall farm by my nephew and….lost….and not for a lack of trying! Haha, I think I’m too tall for the sack. 😀
Jennifer
Friends is perfection.
Love love love that show, but of me the first season is my FAVORITE! Love chill weekends 🙂
