Good morning, friends! How are you doing?
I can’t help but to smile while writing this post today. I have definitely been bitten by the holiday bug this year. I really can’t remember the last time I’ve been this into everything involving the holiday spirit!
The good news for you guys (or at least those of you who are over hearing about the holidays around here) is that they’re almost over.
Can you believe that? Craziness.
Our weekend started early with a night out at the Fox Theatre!
Scott and I both will find any excuse to visit the Fox Theatre.
Isn’t it absolutely gorgeous?
We went for the first time just last month, and couldn’t wait to see another show at the gorgeous venue. This time it was a Cirque Dreams production called Holidaze.
Our friend from Orlando, Jared, contacted us earlier in the week to share that he would be in town working the show. He gifted us with a group of tickets and we were so excited to get dressed up and check out the holiday spectacular!
Holidaze is a broadway medley style production packed with holiday music and thrilling circus acts.
We were thoroughly impressed at the skill level of the acts! I’m pretty sure I looked at Scott and said “no way” a total of thirty times while death gripping his hand for two straight hours. Cirque Dreams put on a fantastic show, and they will be on tour across the country through December 30th.
Thank you so much for the tickets, Jared!
We hung around to chat after the show for a bit and ended up being the last ones in the theatre. We finally made our way back to the lobby, but couldn’t leave without snapping a few photos.
It’s just too beautiful not to.
Soctt and I are really starting to form a love for discovering all things Detroit. Our friends Alex and Alex are just as smitten by the re-builidng of the city, so the four of us often spend our nights out doing just that.
We found dinner just a couple of blocks from the theatre at a downtown favorite, Bucharest Grill.
It’s anything but fine dining, but the food is fantastic! You order from a window and get food delivered to your table just minutes later. They are known for their original mediterranean recipes, and especially shawarmas.
I ordered the chicken shawarma salad and felt completely satisfied.
If you’re ever in the Corktown area of Detroit, I highly suggest you pay Bucharest a visit. You can’t beat the prices!
I literally spent my entire Friday figuring out our Christmas cards. I caved, designed ours online, and ordered them. Only, they’re going to be New Years Cards instead of holiday cards. I’ll be sure to share them once they’re all out!
I finally took a break around 4 p.m. to get ready for work.
I’m in the tail end of my training at the gym and spent a couple of hours learning the basic exercises and circuits you can do with fun equipment like sand bags and kettlebells.
I finished the night off by taking a small group class and rewarded myself with a Quizno’s sub afterwards.
Turkey Lite on wheat with lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, black olives, and banana peppers.
Saturday was a day for catching up.
I feel like I spent the entire day cleaning the house, running errands, gathering, and wrapping last minute gift purchases. Okay, didn’t just feel like it… I did. Scott was busy at an out-of-town Pistons event, so Roadie did his best to keep me company.
I lived off of different variations of this salad for lunch and dinner and enjoyed spending the night in watching Christmas movies.
Spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers, chick peas, tomatoes, carrots, and Applegate organic chicken tenders, topped in black pepper and drizzled in balsamic vinegar.
Scott and I spent Sunday morning at the mall, finishing up some of his last minute shopping. It wasn’t as crazy as I predicted the experience to be, which was a nice surprise.
Since our church started their Christmas services yesterday, we paid a visit to another nearby church to check it out. The service was great! We explored the lobby afterwards and stumbled upon a coffee shop with an interesting drink menu.
Can you spot the snow leopard out of foam at the top? Pretty cool!
It took everything in me not to grab Scott for a photo in front of this winter set up. Isn’t it adorable?
It was a nice little morning together followed by a lunch date at Panera. You Pick Twos all around!
Scott left for work mid-afternoon, which gave me the rest of the day to make holiday treats for his co-workers.
I’ll be sharing the recipe for this reindeer chow this afternoon!
I always enjoy wrapping homemade presents. It gives me the excuse to find all the bows we have in our wrap bins and go to town.
Over the course of the weekend, I’m pretty sure I watched Home Alone a total of three times, How the Grinch Stole Christmas two times, and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation once in the background of all the projects. Whatever gets you through, right?
I’m sure going to miss these holiday movie marathons when they are over!

So yeah, my weekend was very holiday filled. How about yours?

See you back here this afternoon with the recipe!

Never ever get tired of Christmas Vacation especially! Haha, I see you enjoyed more Panera. As did I this past Friday. And that is one gorgeous couple in one gorgeous theatre. It really does look like a beautiful location. Have a Happy Holidays, Heather!
Heather
Ha, of course. Panera is a true addiction of mine. 😉 Aw, thank you! Happy Holidays!
Chelsea @ Raw N' Toned
Omg I love that drawing of the snow leopard! I always want to know who draws those, they are such good drawings! And that theatre is just gorgeous!! And I can’t believe Christmas is almost here! I wish I had more time to enjoy it 🙂
Heather
I know right? Lattes really can be art. It’s amazing to see what baristas come up with!
Liv @ Healthy Liv
Sounds like a fun and really festive weekend!
I love all of the Home Alone movies. Last year, we found out that there are 4!? Although the 4th one was kinda pushing it haha.
We make buckeyes and toffee bars year after year 🙂 So delicious, but they’re already almost gone!
Heather
What? I don’t even think I’ve seen 2 or 3 yet. I need to get on that!
Pretty Little Grub
Mine was holiday filled as well, I loved it! That production looks amazing. Cirus style acts and Christmas, great combination.
Heather
The best 🙂

Chrissy @ Pink Polish and Running Shoes
That theatre looks gorgeous! Also, love your sweater dress.
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
What a beautiful theater and from what you describe an amazing show! Love that cute little Santa house you saw in your travels. Love Actually is my fave Christmas movie, but there are so many that put me in the holiday spirit.
Heather
I love that movie too. I’ll be sad when the movies aren’t continuously playing on television anymore!
EmilyAnne
My favorite Christmas movie is Holiday Inn. I love to have sugar cookies during Christmas. That theater looks amazing! I love anything that is cirque like. You are lucky to see a Christmas show like that. http://www.eatallovertheworld.weebly.com
Heather
I don’t think I’ve seen that one! Yum, sugar cookies are delish. Happy Holidays!
Mattie @ Comfy & Confident
Home Alone as literally been on repeat on TV since Thanksgiving. It is literally on in our house every night.
Heather
Haha, I can’t stop watching it either!
Lizzie S.
My favorite Christmas movie is The Holiday. It’s one of the only movies I can watch over and over.
Heather
That’s a good one!
christinaschueler
LOVE sandbag and kettlebell workouts! I should say love-hate relationship because it hurts so good. My Christmas spirit was brought down a little bit when I realized I would not have a white Christmas. It’s been 12 years since I lived somewhere that snowed and that was going to be the highlight. Either way I’ve gone decorations and baking CRAZY!
Heather
I know… I feel you. It’s raining in Michigan. Not snowing… so weird! Oh well. Better than being stuck in a blizzard, I guess!
Lake Shore Runner
I love that you are loving discovering all things Detroit. The city does have a lot to offer especially as of late. I love when other people see it too! And you don’t have to defend Detroit all the times to others. It is a constant battle in Chicago.
Heather
Yeah, I bet! I too was guilty of having bad thoughts about the city before I moved up here. There really are a lot of cool things to do and see!
Midwest Darling
The Fox Theater is gorgeous! I’ve only been there once.. it’s amazing 🙂
