Hello friends! I trust your week is going well so far. Are you ready for Thanksgiving yet? Ahh! Yeah, me either.
Today is another humdinger. We are getting out the door early today to take Scott’s parents out to breakfast at one of our favorite local spots. It’s actually the best breakfast place I’ve been to since working at one back in Orlando. I really can’t wait!
Do you know what else I am getting pretty anxious for? Black Friday deals!
Reebok Black Friday Deals
Last week I hinted that Reebok had some great discounts and deals for you around the holiday. They’re heeere! Their Black Friday discounts run from Thanksgiving Day (tomorrow) through Sunday, December 1st on www.shop.reebok.com. Discounts include:
• Reebok Nano 2.0’s for $75.00 with the promotional code NANO upon checkout. (See information about this sneaker below!)
• Buy any apparel item, get a second 50% off by using the code BOGO.
• More online discounts coming your way Cyber Monday!
(I really would swoop up their entire Yoga and Dance lines if I could…)
Do you remember me raving about CrossFit Nanos? I first tried the 2.0’s over the summer at FitBloggin’ and wear them every week at least a time or two. This NEW version of the sneaker includes:
- Breathable mesh upper for added ventilation
- Low-cut for added mobility, upper designed for lateral support and stability
- DuraGrip print along the toe cap makes it durable for a longer use
- High abrasion rubber outsole for improved durability
- Full length low profile with EVA midsole for cushioning and low-to-ground feel
- Forefoot flex grooves for added flexibility
I hope you can utilize this great deal for yourself or another athlete on your holiday shopping list! Now onto the eats…
What I Ate Wednesday Monday
To get things moving, I am going to dive right into this week’s What I Ate Wednesday. Except, it’s totally What I Ate Monday (on a game day). Don’t worry… that’s kind of what it’s all about. And just in case you missed it, here is why I love coming back to share WIAW posts with you (almost) each and every week. Let’s kick it!
Game days usually have the same type of pattern for me. Healthy meals with light carbs and lots of nutrients beforehand, then faceplant into almost anything and everything afterwards. It’s definitely not the best routine to get into, but I guess that’s just how I roll. No holding back here, folks!
I was craving eggs for breakfast and became a little “meh” when I saw the only option I had were Southwest style eggbeaters. I actually enjoy them, but have to be in the mood and wasn’t sure if I was.
I quickly got over that when I scrambled and sided them with two Al Fresco Country Style chicken sausage links.
It must have done the trick, because I didn’t even think about a snack before lunch. In fact, receiving an exciting package from Under Armour with this super warm and cozy Coffee Run Beanie even got me outside for a run with Roadie!
With temperatures in the twenties and thirties, that says a lot!
There was an ice patch or two, but nothing serious… yet.
I’m trying to sneak in as many runs as I can before it gets too too cold since Roadie still seems to really enjoy them.
It actually wasn’t all that bad. We only had about twenty minutes to run, so we finished at about the 2.1 mile mark. By this time, I was ready for lunch but wanted to take a shower before cooking anything. Protein recovery smoothie to the rescue!
This one involved fresh strawberries, blackberries, a banana, spinach, a 6 oz. cup of Strawberry Banana Greek yogurt, 1 scoop of Strawberry Designer Whey protein powder, ice, and enough almond milk to make it smooth. YUM.
After my shower I went right back down to the kitchen looking for something warm. Without much time on my side, I quickly heated up a full can (2 servings) of Campbell’s Signature Southwestern Vegetarian Chili.
For being straight from a can, it wasn’t half bad! I spent the next hour gathering my things and getting ready for the game, then was on my way a little after 4 p.m.
(Large coffee in hand of course.) This tends to happen more often than not on game days.
(I also ate a oatmeal raisin cookie Scott so lovingly put in my hands when I saw him on the way to the dressing room.) Whoops.
I was certainly full and stayed that way until about the second quarter. As soon as I got to the locker room for halftime, I enjoyed this Zone Perfect Greek Yogurt Chocolate bar.
Umm… have you seen/tried/swooned over these yet? If your answer is no, I highly suggest you change it. Quickly.
While we usually go out for a bite to eat after the game, Scott and I opted to stay in and eat at home instead.
(This is when Scott also handed me a large homemade chocolate chip muffin with streusel on top.) Double whoops. While I can resist baked goods on my own, I have zero will power when someone places them directly into my hands to enjoy!
That held me over until I got home ready to dig into something warm once again. Unmotivated to cook much I heated up a new (to me) gluten-free wrap from Amy’s to try.
Intriguing, isn’t it? While Scott wouldn’t go anywhere near anything that says gluten free or tofu on it, I happen to love both of those things.
I decided to make it a fancy wrap by drizzling it in shredded cheese and tomatillo salsa from Nuevo Leon. (<- yup, I am still rockin’ what’s left of those bottles, Olga!)
Not too shabby. Not too shabby at all!
In fact, I plan to get even more adventurous during my next trip to the grocery store and try out other Amy’s creations I have been a bit hesitant about. Not pictured is also a generous handful of Garden of Eatin’ corn tortilla chips.
Pictured is dessert: Toasted Coconut ice cream from Hudsonville, a Pure Michigan company!
Again, I blame Scott for this one… but I do have to admit that the tiny slivers of chocolate coconut made the texture and taste absolutely dreamy. Triple whoops.
My game day eats don’t always include baked goods and ice cream, but when they do I make sure they are one hundred percent worth it… and that they were!
Now I am looking forward to spending the day with Scott and his parents, then another home game tonight against the Bulls. Tonight should be fun!
Try not to get too stressed about getting everything together for Thanksgiving tomorrow, will ya? I feel like I’m doing enough of that for all of us. 😉

Campbells makes veggie chili?! I love Amy’s but it’s fun to switch it up sometimes and it is a little “heavy”! My husband loves those chicken sausages. Looks like lots of good eats!

Yes! It’s probably not nearly as good for you, but sure tastes the part.

That smoothie sounds so good! I always like to follow up my smoothies with something warm so the soup sounds perfect also.
