Hello strangers!
I hope you all had a great week. Are you excited about the weekend? I’m really looking forward to the next couple of days because we have our very first visitor in New York City! I’ll be sure to share the highlights of our whereabouts early next week.
Just like every Friday, today I am taking a look back at the week and highlighting what made me smile. I hope you’ll play along in the comment section, too.
What have you been loving this week? Bloggers, don’t forget to link up your own Friday Favorites posts at the bottom!
Friday Favorites #144: Week of 6/3
• ankle wrap sandals
I had been on the hunt for a pair of not-so dramatic gladiator sandals for months! After searching a handful of stores, I decided to try my luck and check out Marshalls. Well, what do you know, I found the perfect pair on sale for $24.99!
The brand is BCBGeneration, and if you’re really lucky … they just might be at your neighborhood Marshalls. They’ve been perfect for bouncing out and about around the city, and are very comfortable.
• jewelry holder
Speaking of Marshalls, I had also been looking for a jewelry holder to organize my pieces and keep them easily accessible. I randomly stumbled upon a this jewelry tree while standing in line to check out, and it totally got me.
I have been searching online for jewelry holders, and all of the ones I like came with a ridiculously high price tag. I couldn’t resist this one at $10! Here’s to you, employee who decided to put all of the things I need to impulsively buy by the check out counters.
(Am I right?)
• lunch date in Williamsburg
Williamsburg is a fun part of the borough of Brooklyn. I had visited a couple of times before we moved to New York, but I really walked the streets this week when I met up with my friend, Kristen, for a lunch date on Wednesday.
I have known Kristen since middle school (I danced with her for years!), and I am happy that she is only a train ride away to visit whenever we make plans to see each other.
I was looking forward to catching up with her and spending the afternoon at her apartment and then walking to McCarren Park with her adorable twin boys.
It was hot, but beautiful out! I was greeted with a tasty chicken salad and fruit and cheese platter when I arrived, and I was so excited to see her and hear all about her life in Brooklyn after moving from Orlando.
It sounds like she loves living in Williamsburg, and I have a feeling that we will be seeing a lot of each other from here on out!
• finding beauty services on a budget in NYC
Living in New York can be very expensive, but there are a few cost-effective perks, too. Over the past few weeks, I have found that I can get my eyebrows threaded for $6, an hour massage for $50, and a manicure and pedicure for $24 just blocks away from our apartment!
Yesterday I finally booked an appointment for a mani/pedi, and I was very impressed with the service. I used to pay at least $25 for a pedicure alone living in Detroit or Orlando. This combo took care of both my hands and my feet, and also included a mini-massage while my polish dried. Who would have thought?
• illustrated bible verses book
My dear friend Molly sent me a great surprise in the mail earlier this year. It was a book called 100 Illustrated Bible Verses and came at the perfect time.
The book goes through the Bible and shares popular verses in order, along with illustrations and drawings.
I’ve been enjoying keeping it on my nightstand and starting my mornings on a positive note by flipping through a few pages. Thanks so much for thinking of me, Molly!

Manis and pedis for days! Yes, Williamsburg in Brooklyn … hehe. It still surprises me how big Brooklyn is! We both live here, but you could easily ride the train for over an hour to get to another part of the borough. Happy Friday!
Hannah {Hannah at Home}
Love that nail color – and what a great deal for a mani/pedi!

Ashley @ A Lady Goes West
Hi Heather! Happy Friday! Okay, now $24 is a MAJOR deal for a dual mani/pedi. Things are expensive here in the Bay Area as well, and I’ve never come close to finding prices like that for services. Love your sandals! I have some that are very similar from DSW. Have a fab weekend, lady! Enjoy your company.

Friday faves for me include a Friday tabata class during my lunch hour! Also a fav this week, I discovered some very tasty cookies that I originally bought for my 2 years old, but ended up keeping them for myself! (anyway the cookies always end up on the floor for the dog to eat when my son eats them!) Annie’s chocolate graham mmm 😉
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
I love to wander around Marshalls. You just never know what you will find. The jewelry holders are a must to organize. Otherwise, I always end up wearing the same thing. Have a wonderful weekend. xo Lauren
