Good morning and Happy Friday!
I like to start my day by taking a look back and sharing what makes me smile through Friday Favorites. It’s a chance to reflect on great things that happened throughout the week and cover outings, articles, and new products that I’ve been loving.
I always enjoy reading highlights from your weeks, and I invite you to share them in the comments section. If you are a blogger, make sure to look for the blue Inlinkz button at the bottom and link up your own #FFavorites posts, too!
Here we go!
• The Brooklyn Barge
My friend, Kristen, invited me for drinks and tacos at The Brooklyn Barge last night.
It’s a unique restaurant and bar in Greenpoint, Brooklyn that is located on a floating barge. I would have never known that it existed, as the entrance is very hidden behind warehouses and barely labeled. It’s definitely a spot filled with locals!
You order both food and drinks on the barge and can sit at tables on the water or back on land.
I loved being near the water as the sun set behind the Manhattan skyline! It was so beautiful.
I’ve known Kristen since middle school! We used to dance together for years, and it’s been nice to reconnect now that we both live in Brooklyn. We spent hours chatting about life in New York, and we could both relate to roller coaster feelings of loving and hating the craziness of it as time goes by. At the end of the day, however, views like these make us feel very blessed to be here!
Our evening was fun and relaxing, and we are already planning to make a return with our guys soon. I would highly recommend checking out The Brooklyn Barge to anyone looking for a local’s paradise!
• free party printables
I’m not in need of these right now, but I came across these DIY photo booth printables from Personal Creations and thought they were the cutest.
If you are throwing a party, hosting a dinner, or just looking for a fun activity to do with your family, these would be a hit. They are super fun and easy … simply print, cut, and glue.
They have a great variety of printable props that were made for every type of occasion from weddings and birthdays to holidays and showers.
They’re completely free to download, too. Win!
• CHOPT Salads
I shared this photo on my Instagram stories and Snapchat feed, and I got a few responses saying “Ahhh, Chop’t!” It looks like I’m not the only person who is loving their salads this week!
Scott and I were in Soho on Wednesday, and we were looking for a quick dinner after a sweaty TRX class. (<- That could be another bullet point, by the way. I loved getting back on the TRX! More on that class and other recent ClassPass adventures coming soon.)
I was craving greens, so we immediately turned into CHOPT Creative Salad Company as soon as we saw it on our walk to the train. They have a great variety of bowls, plates, and salads that you can choose from, all of which use ingredients from local farmers. I was very intrigued by the quinoa and soba noodle bowls, but my body was craving #allthegreens, so I went with the Classic Cobb and Scott ordered the Summer Caprese Plate. True to it’s name, you can choose to get everything chopped into bite-sized pieces.
Everything was delicious, and we will be back, but I will say that prices were a bit on the steep side. I also couldn’t find any ice water accessible outside of a bottle to purchase. That said, it’s a great go-to when you’re in the City looking for a quick and healthy meal.
• Stranger Things on Netflix
It only took us about a month to finally give it a try (per the suggestion of several friends), but we are officially hooked on the Netflix original series: Stranger Things.
Have any of you watched it? The best way I can describe it is a mix between something you would see on the Sci-Fi channel and Poltergeist. It’s been interesting to see Winona Ryder play Joyce, and the characters are all very strange and captivating.
We are currently on the fourth episode, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we finished the entire season by the end of the weekend. It’s very chilling and addicting!
• Nature’s Path toaster pastries
Speaking of new addictions, have you ever seen these Nature’s Path Organic toaster pastries?
I tried them ages ago, and they just re-entered my life when I stumbled upon them in a local market this week. I just had to get them. I used to be a huge fan of Pop-Tarts growing up (there was a point where I would literally have one every day), so this organic, non-GMO version of them makes me happy.
So far, I’ve only tried the Mmmaple Brown Sugar flavor, but they all look delicious. (Wildberry Acai, you’re next!) I could be mistaken, but I remember seeing some kind of Pumpkin Spice flavor roll out around this time last year, too. Here’s hoping!
• your comments
I just wanted to take a moment and acknowledge all of the love and support that I have felt from you guys lately. Sharing our struggles and our journey to conceive on the blog isn’t something I was sure that I wanted to do, but I’m always thankful for how publishing my entries makes me feel and for the community of support that appears in the comments afterwards. Not just for me, but also for those of you who really needed to hear the stories or feel like you’re not alone that day.
There is a small part of me that believes I have this platform to be able to bring up subjects that not everyone wants to dive into, and I plan on continuing to share our journey as it unfolds in the future.
That said, I can’t thank all of you enough who took the time to comment, share your own stories, email, or message me with encouraging words. I really, really appreciate your thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much. <3

It is pretty intense, but not scary like a movie with serial killers. It’s pretty far out there, which almost makes it easier to watch and go to sleep afterwards. There’s no way it could be real, right? 😉
Dani @ Dani California Cooks
My mom used to buy these whole wheat toaster pastries from Trader Joes – such a nostalgic food for me!

You just reminded me that I really need to visit a Trader Joe’s. I haven’t been in since we moved here!
