Hi friends and Happy Friday!
It’s been a long week, but a good one. I’m working at the studio tomorrow, but I’m looking forward to some quiet time at home tonight and brunch with a friend on Sunday! Backing up to today, it’s time for this week’s edition of Friday Favorites and I’m sharing some things that I’ve been loving lately.
Back when I was blogging regularly, this was actually my favorite post of the week to put together. It’s my chance to highlight things that make me smile, and I enjoy catching up with all of your faves in the comments and link up sections during the weekend. Thanks to those of you who came back to link up last week — I’ve missed checking in with you all on the regular!
I hope you all have a great few days ahead, and if you’re in our neck of the woods, stay dry!
• Korean BBQ
Have y’all ever had Korean BBQ? I can’t recall trying it prior to a few weeks ago. Koreatown lives in Midtown Manhattan, centered on West 32nd Street between 5th and 6th Avenue and Broadway. According to a few friends of mine, Koreatown is a popular place to grab dinner before or after attending events at Madison Square Garden.
Korean Barbecue is a method of roasting beef, pork, chicken, and other types of meat. Dishes are usually prepared by staff and customers at the dinner table on charcoal grills. I’ve been to hibachi restaurants before, but my first time trying Korean barbecue was just a few weeks ago before Scott and I met our friends Lauren and Jake to see the Harlem Globetrotters at MSG. As soon as we suggested dinner, Lauren mentioned Korean BBQ and made reservations for us at Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong.
I don’t have much to compare it to, but everything was so good! The service was excellent, and I would recommend anyone in the area to give it a try.
The funniest part about our first day trying Korean BBQ is that a different set of friends wanted to grab some after the game. So … yes, Scott and I got it again with them afterwards at another nearby spot. The service wasn’t as great, and I wasn’t that impressed with the menu items that round, so I’m not going to worrying about researching the name to share. What’s linked above is my first recommendation and I’m hoping to try more spots out soon!
• Non-stop Bomber Jacket
I own less than a handful of things from lululemon, but the items I have invested in lately have turned into some of my very favorite wardrobe pieces. After working an event in the store with Orangetheory, I took a loop around and couldn’t leave without this reversible . It’s expensive, but it’s super comfortable and reversible. C’mon!
It’s great for heat retention and provides a light protection from light rain, too. It’s seriously the best!
I’ve sported it at least half of the shifts I’ve worked the the studio the last month, and while the black color was the most practical purchase for me, I am really loving the dark chrome and dark olive shades as well. This and the jean bomber I featured earlier this week are practically on repeat right now. LOVE!
• 90210
This one is semi-embarrassing, but totally worth the mention. My sister and I were big fans of the drama Beverly Hills, 90210 back in the day, so when the new 90210 series debuted in 2008, I figured it would be a series that wouldn’t be as good as the original and probably not worth the watch.
While scrolling around Netflix a few months ago, I stumbled upon 90210 and figured it wouldn’t hurt to give an episode or two a try. It took a few episodes to get into, but fast forward to today and I am hooked. Really. I binge watch a batch of episodes when I have the time and can’t get enough. And I have to say, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Naomi at first, but now she is my favorite character on the show. The drama!
• Mr. Coffee Tea Kettle
I’ve never owned a tea pot until I received one as a Christmas gift this year, and I couldn’t tell you why. We don’t have a microwave in our kitchen, so we rely on the oven, stovetop, and toaster oven to heat up everything we cook. After visiting us and seeing that we didn’t own one, my aunts sent me this Mr. Coffee Stainless Steel Whistling Tea Kettle to make it easier to make hot tea and boil water. I think I’ve used it every day since!
I love that it whistles, and while all of our other kitchen gadgets are stainless steel, I like the pop of green color on the stove. #thelittlethings
• our Brooklyn view of the City
This one may sound lame, but I’ve been extra appreciative and taken back by our daily view of the Manhattan Skyline from our apartment. Nothing beats the rooftop, but it always makes me smile when I catch a peek while I’m doing dishes in the kitchen or in our room throughout the day.
Sunsets are pretty special, but my favorite time to peek at the buildings is actually at night. It pictures horribly but is definitely one of my favorite parts of each day. Everyone asks me how I like living in Brooklyn versus Manhattan, and I have to say that it’s the perfect spot for us right now. NYC may not be our permanent residence, but we sure do love the suburb feel of Park Slope. I love being able to see the City from afar, yet only a quick train or cab ride away.

(Also known as funny items that I should probably own …)
If you know what the bottom t-shirt is referencing, we would be great friends!

OMG I LOVE Korean BBQ. Funny thing is that I had Kang Ho for my first experience as well, however it was the location in Los Angeles. We waited 2 hours and it was one of the most fun dinners I’ve had! I love that food, it’s so delicious and amazing. Super experience. I will have to try the NYC one soon.
Thanks for the linkup!

I love that squad girls tshirt! It would be funny to wear and see who picks up on the show – probably mostly people much older than us haha

Ashley @ A Lady Goes West
Hi Heather! Happy Friday! I have a red tea kettle that I got more than five years ago as a wedding gift, and I use it EVERY SINGLE DAY. I love to hear it whistling. Also loving that bomber jacket. I only buy Lululemon a couple of times a year, and it totally lasts (much like my tea kettle hahah). Enjoy your day and weekend!

I got sucked into the new 90210 when it first started. The actress third from the left (I can’t remember her name) is Canadian, and was on TV here in Canada before she started on 90210. Weren’t there a few characters from the original 90210 in the first episode or two?
And I totally love Golden Girls! I wish I could still find it on TV.

So glad to see you back to blogging! I love that jacket!
