It’s Friday, and both Scott and I have a busy weekend ahead of us! Before the madness begins, I have plans to complete my first (and possibly only?) fall craft of the season, followed by a day at the office with Scott to help him clean out his storage. Jealous?
In the spirit of enjoying the slower moments of the day, I am going to take a few minutes to reflect on the week and share a list of things I have been loving this week. From beauty to food to random tips and thoughts, here comes another Friday Favorites post for ya!
Friday Favorites #5: Week of 10/4
• Stocking Up on Fall Accessories
While shopping for accessories for my photoshoot, I couldn’t help but notice all of the warm and cozy pieces calling to me. With fall here, that means cold days and colder nights are also quickly approaching, and if I learned anything from last season it’s to stock up on warm clothing and accessories whenever possible.
While at Nordstrom Rack, I found plenty of cute stuff I wanted to take home. What I ended up buying was this Calvin Klein leopard infinity scarf, a pair of fuzzy black sequined slip-ons (perfect to wear around town and to games!), leg warmers to wear under boots (loving that look!), and a pair of Steve Madden fingerless slip-on gloves.
I realize everything is in the black and grey family, but that just means I can wear them with anything.
• Overnight Oats
I already highlighted one of my overnight oats breakfasts in this week’s WIAW. Tweaking Julie’s recipe (I can’t take credit for it and have been using it for a year and a half now!) I used a 6 oz. cup of Blackberry Non-fat Greek yogurt as the base and topped it with fresh raspberries this morning.
So effortless. So good.
What draws me the most to this breakfast is not only the taste, but sheer convenience of waking up and having it ready.
• Press-On Nails
I first let you all in on my little secret of using press-on nails in my photoshoot tips a few weeks ago. For last weekend’s Media Day, I applied another set of these Kiss Real Shorts and they were still kickin’ and looking fabulous five days later.
Not too shabby!
• Amazon Monthly Beauty Subscriptions
Speaking of beauty products, I have started to prepare for the season by subscribing to an automatic monthly delivery of my favorite self-tanner and eyelashes.
As a dancer, these are two products I will use on a constant basis and can never have enough of. I was excited to see the subscribe option upon my checkout that even gave a small discount on my orders!
• Huge Headbands That Keep Earbuds In Place
One of my teammates was talking about how annoying it is for her earbuds to fall out during a cardio workout, which made me realize I’ve never shared this tip with you! I discovered this trick while running in snow last winter. Nobody has time to deal with misbehaving earbuds when you’re trying to concentrate on dodging ice patches and keeping warm!
No need for fancy earphones… put in your good ‘ol free iPhone earbuds, get a big stretchy headband and wear it over your ears.
Think you look silly? When it’s cold out you won’t. And, you might just be the one giggling a little at the gym when you see other people struggling with their earbuds. Just sayin’!
• Fall Scents and Candles
As part of my Fall Bucket List, I was on a mission to fill our home with fall scents yesterday. While grocery shopping at Meijer, I stumbled upon Yankee Candle’s entire fall collection!
It was almost impossible to choose one, which is why I was grateful to see they were marked down to buy one, get one at 50% off, which I just discovered you can also get on a selection of fall scents online. Both of the scents I have at home smell heavenly!
• Starbucks Skinny Vanilla Latte
While I hate to discredit my beloved Pumpkin Spice Latte this season, I have to put it aside to highlight another drink I have been loving: the Skinny Vanilla Latte.
At only 120 calories for a Grande, I’m a fan. Plus, when you compare it to the amount of sugars and carbs in the PSL (<- link is above), it makes you realize that some lattes are best to enjoy as treats, rather than as part of an every day routine.
Also, I was overjoyed to find this Starbucks gift card pop out at me in my wallet this week. It’s been in there forever and I totally forgot about it, which made this purchase as well as the next four on the house. Woohoo!
• Thai Food
I joined Scott at the office yesterday for an impromptu lunch date. We were in the mood to try something new and found a great Thai place right down the road from the arena. While I normally go for more protein packed dishes with vegetables, I decided to live on the edge a little and ordered Chicken Pad Thai – hot.
Can’t get enough spicy Thai food lately!
• Well-Worn + Funny Halloween T-Shirts
I realized how much I am digging the well-worn t-shirt look at my recent trip to Target. Both this tee and tank happened to be on sale, and I got both of them for a total of $17.
I also found this hilarious shirt I almost had to purchase.
Ghostbusters! How awesome was that movie (and theme song)?
Gosh, I just love this time of year.
Off to go get my craft on. Have a great Friday, everyone!
What are some of your favorite finds this week?

Boots, and scarves, and oversized sweaters!! 😀 I’m loving ALL things fall right now, although I seriously need to invest in a nice pair of burgundy skinny jeans. And a huge YES to fall scented candles. I tend to burn them all year long because they’re some of my favourite smells, but they definitely feel a lot more cozy around this time of the year 🙂
LOVE oversized sweaters. More than ever this year! Can’t wait for it to get a little cooler and bust them all out 🙂
huge headbands are the best, along with skinny vanilla latte’s, but I think boots and leggings trump all other fall favorites
I wish I could wear leggings, sweatshirts and boots every single day! Truth is most of the time it is either too hot or too cold here. lol. Enjoying being able to wear them now!
I’ve been going nuts over all the Fall accessories! Scarves, boots, and the dark coloured lipsticks have been my favourite lately.
Wow, those nails actually do look pretty good! I had a bad experience with press on nails when I was about 12 and haven’t tried them again 😉
I adore this time of year too. Definitely the best season of them all!
I’ve never been one to wear dark colored lips, unless it’s bright red. But then, I guess that would be in the bright category… not dark. 😉 I agree! Happy Fall!
I love that headband!! I always wear headbands to the gym and can’t find big ones like that- the search is on!! That scarf = too cute!! Oh and a skinny vanilla latte is my go to starbucks drink from December-September.. basically except for when PSLs are out!
I got this one at a half marathon, but have seen similar ones at yoga studios, lululemon, and such. If I see any out there I’ll keep you posted!
Love those candles, I smelled them both at target last week! Great picks!
Also, big headbands do rock! I have some lululemon ones I love!
Happy weekend love! <3
They’ve already made me want to keep my windows open 24/7 and just breathe the fresh air in. Love this time of year! Happy Weekend! 🙂
I LOVE the leg warmers under boots look!! I REALLY need to invest in some this winter.
I am too! 🙂
I love the leg warmers! I need to get some to wear under boots. I’m a little bit late to this trend, but I’m loving colored jeans for fall. I just bought some olive green jeans, and I’d like a red pair. Bath & Body works has some great fall candles too!
I LOVE colored jeans! It’s pretty bad when I have two different shades of teal to pick from in my closet, lol. Love olive green!
The skinny vanilla latte is my favorite drink at Starbucks! I love the pumpkin one but all those spices upset my stomach.
It’s so good! And I know what you mean… I had a pumpkin chai today and my stomach wasn’t at it’s best. Probably has something to do with the sugars and carbs!
You should try Yurbuds headphones… So comfortable, and I promise you they won’t fall out:)
Hmm… interesting! I might have to check those out!
Love finding little treats that I forgot that I had, especially when it involves starbucks. I’ve still been enjoying my iced coffee with two pumps of sugar free vanilla and a splash of soy. Have a great weekend!
It’s the best! Maybe even better than just finding $20 cash… 😉
I just found a few yummy new KIND bars – they are part of their healthy grains line and are “Dark Chocolate Chunk” & “Maple Pumpkin Seeds with Sea Salt”. I have yet to visit my local Nordstrom Rack here in Ann Arbor since it opened, as I am scared of my potential bill upon leaving, but LOVE your finds! Have a great weekend!
Love KIND bars! Yum. Oh, and I always leave with more than I was expecting to every trip there. So much cute stuff!
I LOVE that headband and the leg warmers!! 🙂
Thank you! I need to invest in more. Like, now. 😉
Mmm, I LOVE skinny vanilla lattes!
SO yummy!
I bought Starbucks Skinny Vanilla Latte and its yummy, I will try another next time if I goin to the mall.
