Hi friends, and a very Happy Friday!
I hope you had a great week and are gearing up for a weekend full of fun, relaxing, or a little bit of both. (<- those are always my fave!) Scott and I have what is shaping up to be a great one on deck. We have dinner plans with friends tonight, I have a bridal shower tomorrow, and then we are heading over to Ann Arbor for a special movie night at The Big House!
In an effort to help today go by a little faster, let’s talk about some of the highlights from the week with Friday Favorites. I enjoy seeing what you have been loving too, so please feel free to play along and join in on the comments section and link-up at the bottom!
Friday Favorites #92: Week of 6/5
• Converse slip-ons
I just love Converse sneakers. I own a few pairs of them now, and I inherited the latest from a dear friend of mine on our last trip to New York.
These Chuck Taylor Shoreline slip-ons had never been worn, and proved to be a bit small for her foot, so I happily took her up on the offer to find them a nice home. They require a no-show type of sock, if any, and I’ve been loving them for over a month.
(you can find this color at )
Aren’t they adorable? Thanks so much for the awesome kicks, Lauren. You’re the best! xo
• Firehouse subs
“Welcome to Firehouse!” was a phrase I got to know all too well in high school. There was a Firehouse Subs located right across from my high school, so I would often frequent their store on senior lunches. (Are those still a thing?)
Scott and I recently found a Firehouse in our neck of the woods, so we stopped to give it a try this week. I usually order a turkey sub, but I was craving a Philly cheese steak something serious. That happens every now and then.
I ordered a regular sized steak & cheese sub on wheat and enjoyed every single bite with a smile on my face. I don’t eat red meat all that often, but when I do… it’s usually some kind of steak and cheese combo.
• Lindt gourmet chocolate truffles
My friend Nichole brought this gold box of goodies over to us this week. I don’t know what we did to deserve them, but I’m not asking, either. Have you ever tried Lindt chocolates?
Um, delicious.
We got this delightful little gold box of goodies on Wednesday, and they didn’t stand a chance past yesterday.
They were all (yes, I tried every flavor) so delicious! Thanks so much, Nichole!
• eyebrow threading
Do any of you get your eyebrows threaded?
Ever since my sophomore year in college, I’ve probably gotten my eyebrows waxed a total of ten times. If you do the math, that’s what… maybe a time or two a year? Since I can’t really trust myself with my own brow shape (seriously… I’m horrible), I have been seeking out places to get my eyebrows threaded over the past ten years!
I first started trying threading in Tampa, and I got a lot of my friends hooked on it when I moved back to Orlando. If you haven’t tried it before, threading can remove short lines of hair at a time, as opposed to single hairs pulled out one at a time through tweezing.
It’s somewhat painful, but then again, so is waxing. The more you go, the more your skin gets used to it, and if you find a good salon, you won’t be super uncomfortable. For my Michigan folks, I currently go to Miracle Browz on Rochester Road.
After a three week hiatus, I finally made it back to the salon yesterday, and I feel so much better. It sounds stupid, but it’s one hundred percent true.
If you’re not a huge fan of waxing, I recommend you see if there is a threading salon near you and give it a try! Most salons shouldn’t charge you more than $12 for your eyebrows, and you can usually find the good ones by reading reviews online. Good luck!
• National Donut Day
Hey, hey, hey, it’s National Donut Day!
Do-nut pass up this opportunity to indulge in one if you get the chance.
Although it’s not National Doughnut Day (<- click to read the difference), you can still celebrate the food by stopping through any participating Dunkin’ Donuts or Krispy Kreme stores to receive a free donut with the purchase of a beverage! You better believe I’ll be taking advantage of that later today. Yum!

This is bad timing for National Donut Day. We are stuck at home as our car is in the shop…I may need to see if I can find donuts in walking distance…Your picture made me want a donut with my coffee this morning!!
Heather
Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you get to find a donut… or even celebrate tomorrow, too. 😉
Emily
Ah yes…there is always tomorrow!
Heather@hungryforbalance
I love those gray Chucks! Seriously, Converse were all I wore in high school- I haven’t had a pair in a while, but that needs to change!
Congrats on the Popsugar post!
Heather
Thanks Heather! I’ve been rotating my pairs throughout the spring and will most likely carry them into Summer and Fall as well! Love them 😉
briwifruit
Love those shoes!!
Is it weird that I don’t crave doughnuts? I can’t remember the last time I had one… maybe that’s why? Clearly I’m not living.
Suzanne @ Life is a Mix
I wasted not time celebrating National Donut Day. My donut has already been bought and consumed, lol!
I really need to try threading for my eyebrows. My brows have good shape to them but the individual hairs are long and this sounds like it could be perfect for “cutting” them.
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West
How nice that you inherited some cute sneaks! I have purple Converse, which I originally bought way back when I attended “Black Ties n Tennies” in Orlando to wear with a gown ahha! And YES for eyebrow threading, I tend to do it a few times a year too. TGIF! Thanks for hosting! 🙂
Sierra&Faith Winks and Eyerolls
Happy Friday! Loving those converse you got! Yay for national donut day. Trying to be good and save ours for after lunch. Doubt that’s happening 🙂 Have a great weekend. Winks and Eyerolls

Threading is the best/worst! Haha I love how it looks and it’s so fast, but it hurts so bad. Waxing never really bothered me, but my eyes water like crazy when I go to threading. Beauty is pain though! Hope you have a great weekend 🙂
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul
Have so much fun in Ann Arbor! I’d love to visit there someday!
Kaitlin
Yay for donut day! Have a fabulous weekend!
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment
Right! Donut Day! There are so many national food days now. 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Chelsea @ Raw N' Toned
Those Chucks are awesome! It’s been so long since I’ve had a pair, I need to change that! And I’ve always wanted to try threading, but I’m afraid it’s going to be painful!!
Heather
I’m not going to lie, it doesn’t feel good. But it’s pretty comparable to waxing, in my opinion. If you want to go for it, I always suggest trying it a total of three times. By the third time, it won’t feel half as bad as the first one!
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries
I LOVE those Converse slip-ons! Adorable! I’ve been wanting a pair of the slip-ons for awhile now. I gotta bite the bullet!
Firehouse subs are good, but from the couple times I went, I felt like they were a little overpriced.
Heck yes to Lindt chocolates – one of my faves! I would’ve dove into that box headfirst.
Heather
Thanks, me too! I say you deserve a new pair 😉 Happy Weekend!
Kelsey Mann Peacock
We LOVE Firehouse Subs! The next town over has one so we always go there anytime we’re there! That Koala donut picture is funny & so true!

Isn’t it hilarious? That’s literally my face. So great.

I need to track down a donut! Funny that National Donut Day is two days after National Running Day. Haha
Heather
Haha, right? It should be the other way around 😉
Heather
Yes you do! 😉
Lauren
I posted about donuts today! I love Converse as a classic casual shoe. That sub has me craving a Philly cheesesteak now!
Heather
I’m already craving it again. I go through such phases with them!
Stephanie Benton
My brother went to the Lindt Chocolate Factory in Cologne Germany back in January and made his own chocolate. He chose dark chocolate with crispies and blueberries and it was so so good!!
Heather
How cool… that’s awesome! I’d love to visit Germany one day. Great choices, brother!
Carrie
I want those slip on converse! I have the regular kind and it takes a while to get my foot in and tie them… wow I sound ridiculous, but slip-ons would be a lot easier, hah!
Heather
Haha, sounds a bit dramatic, but I would say the same thing and know exactly what you mean! 😉
Helene
I love firehouse subs!! they are so so good!
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut
Those chucks are too cute!! And I just tried a Firehouse subs and it was amazing!! <3
Heather
Welcome to the wonderful world of Firehouse, friend! 🙂
Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me
That steak and cheese sub looks like something I’d order! I need to find my way out to a deli sometime soon. Have a great weekend Heather! 🙂
jillconyers
I wasn’t surprised by Subway’s announcement. They had to revive somehow after the bread fiasco. I love Chuck Taylors 🙂
Have a fantastic weekend Heather!
Heather
Thanks Jill, I hope you are having a great start to your week!

I also don’t like to eat meat. The vegetable recipe is my best choice. I noticed you mentioned an item or nutritional benefits on you one recipe. I liked very much your content because it has huge info on health. Heather, I think if you add more info about getting sufficient nutrition it will be so good. Thousands of thanks for giving the informative piece.
