Hello and Happy Halloween to you!
I’m currently coming to you from an airplane seat on a layover. Scott and I are en route to Orlando for a quick weekend trip home and couldn’t be more excited about getting there to see some friends and family!
I thought we would have more downtime on land, but instead have been in the air and switching planes since 7:30 this morning. So, quick recap from the phone it is!
First, how is your day going so far? Are you dressed up as anything crazy? With our big Opening Night game last night and the holiday today, it all brings me back to my first NBA season opener ever, back in 2007 with the Orlando Magic.
Ours happened to fall on Halloween and we dressed up as zombies to scare the crowd during the intros, performed, then changed back into “pretty ladies” for the second half.
It was definitely a night I will always look back on as one of my favorite memories on the NBA court. SO much fun!
Six years later, I experienced another season opener, but another first for me now being with the Detroit Pistons. I had been looking forward to this day for quite a while and thought it was the perfect day to replace my raggedy old keychain with to a new sparkly sporty one.
Last night’s game was incredible! With what seems to be a completely new roster (including the return of Detroit legend Chauncey Billups!) I had a feeling the crowd was going to be a lot louder than last year. We couldn’t wait to get out there and show them our new uniforms!
The lights went down as player introductions started, and moving laser lights and giant television screens took over the floor. I’ve never heard the crowd SO excited! Hearing the roar from the back gave me chills and the extra adrenaline push I needed to put my nerves aside and just have fun out there.
The first routine went great! Before I knew it, it was time to get ready for what I think to be the best put together halftime show yet. All of our entertainment teams performed together in black and white with glow and the dark accents. Seven of us even got to tackle hula hooping!
(By the way, that had to be the most nervous I have ever been to perform on court in a loooong time. I’m happy to report we all stayed in sync and came out of the show without any drops. Phew!)

I can’t wait to share the video with you once it’s online for viewing. It all felt so elaborate, like a Super Bowl halftime show or something. Lights, lasers, and tricks everywhere!
After the game, a large group of us went down the street to celebrate the start of the new season. It was nice to see some of the girls from last season too. When we noticed the popular red shade of hair color between a group of us, we had to take a photo just for giggles.
We ended up staying way later than we planned and got nearly no sleep before leaving the house this morning at 5:30 a.m. packed and ready to go to Florida. Eh, it happens every once in a while.
Anddd the ending of this post couldn’t have had better timing. I’m currently being reminded from our captain that we will be taking off very shortly. Orlando, here we come!!
Hope you all have a safe and fun rest of the day. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
