I know what you’re thinking… and I really couldn’t agree with you more. (It’s about time I put up a new workout around here!)
You see, I have admittedly slipped back into the “easy” Fitness Pilates and running on the treadmill routine over the past few months. I chose to use the word “easy” because my brain rarely has to do anything during them. I show up to class, get my booty and core handed to me, then hop on the treadmill to knock out a few miles afterwards. Simple enough.
As mentally effortless as that may seem, it can also get boring after a while. For this reason, I have always loved interval workouts that constantly require an eye on the clock and sets of continuous movements.
About two weeks ago, I received the motivation I needed to get out of my repetitive workout rut and am pumped to share it with you!
Gymboss Interval Timer and Stopwatch
Thanks to the lovely people over at Gymboss, I am now a proud owner of a multi-use interval timer and stopwatch perfect for almost any kind of workout. From Tabata and CrossFit to cardio and stretching, I can think of at least ten different ways to use this handy new addition to my at-home gym. And that’s just off the top of my head.
As soon as I opened the packaging, I got inspired to create my own workout to test it out. I asked you guys what you’d like to see most and the clear answer was a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workout. Alrighty!
I completed the following HIIT circuit workout earlier today that you can do at home or in the gym without any additional equipment.
It took a few minutes for me to set the timer up for my intervals, but after reading the instruction manual it wasn’t too hard to figure out.
There are three different modes available including interval, stopwatch and clock. For the workout above, I made sure to set the interval (top right) at 1:00, a rest time of 0:20 (bottom right), and a repeat of 8 times (bottom left) since that was the number of exercises in the set.
I also turned on the vibrate option (the V next to BH) to see if it was just as easy to follow without looking by wearing the belt clip. It was!
I have always been a fan of interval workouts, and in the past have relied on the stopwatch timer on my iPhone. That theory seems to work, but at times can be a distraction from the workout. I constantly have to do math in my head and occasionally lose count of things. With the timer, I have a clear answer of when I should be moving on to the next exercise and when the workout is over.

If you are one who enjoys mixing up your workouts and trying something new, I highly recommend investing in some kind of an interval timer. Since I still have yet to own a fitness watch (I knowww, right?), I have a feeling this interval timer and I are going to become best friends.
The wheels in my head are turning just thinking about all of the tabatas, cardio, and circuit workouts I can create so much easier!
