While we were in Florida, I was able to sneak away from Camp Orlando for a couple of hours in order to attend a very dear friend’s baby shower!
Brittany (left), Melissa (middle) and I have known each other since our first dance class together at the age of three, and we have managed to remain close over the past twenty seven years!
We all currently live in different states, so it is a rare occasion that the three of us can get together. I was very thankful for the opportunity to attend her special celebration.
Since I was at camp, I was elated when Brittany offered to drive from Orlando to Lakeland and back to grab me and be my personal chauffeur for the day. If it wasn’t for her, I certainly couldn’t have attended.
The shower was held at Melissa’s mother’s inside a charming country house on a beautiful property. Her mother, step-mother and mother-in-law did a wonderful job putting everything together.
I loved the decorations, and we could all tell that there was a lot of time and thoughts put into planning out the details.
There were so many things that looked like they appeared straight out of Pinterest!
The food was delicious, and catered by the popular Yellow Dog Eats (<- I just wrote about visiting that restaurant with the guest of honor over the weekend!) We’re not obsessed or anything.
Although the punch and desserts were delicious, these individual 7-layer dip cups get the most exciting party food award.
How cute is this with the little Tonka truck?
As we waited for the majority of guests to arrive, we formed a circle of chairs in the living room and chatted the afternoon away. It was so great to be back in the presence of Florida friends!
Before the presents, we played a couple of shower games including this entertaining Junk in the Trunk bit I first saw on the television game show Minute To Win It. Scott sucked me into watching that show for a hot minute, and most of the challenges are ones you could repeat at parties!
We also played the guess the waistline of mommy-to-be, which some of us were a bit off on.
Our friend Lindsey and I tied for the win!
(Which is my first time ever coming close. I’m usually way off like the photo you see above. You’re not alone, Kristen!)
We all made our way back to our seats so Melissa could start opening her presents. To keep us occupied, we played two more games.
One was a competition to see who could be the first to name baby related objects from A-Z and the other was a fill-in-your-own Bingo card.
I just love seeing baby presents! Everything is so teeny tiny, soft and cuddly.
Seeing the joy on her face as she opened each one made the reality that Melissa is going to be a mother set in. I can’t believe all of my friends are officially grown ups!
I wasn’t able to stay too long, as I had to get back to camp for night service, but I was so thankful that I was able to attend the shower even if it was just for a couple of hours.
I can’t get enough of these two!
Congratulations Melissa + Billy!
I can’t wait to meet your precious baby boy come September.

Heather, you’re right. Most of the ideas came from Pinterest. The shower was a lot of fun and we’re glad you could attend.
