As promised earlier, it’s time to cover another What I Ate Wednesday!
I don’t have much time to chat before I need to hop in the shower and get ready for an appearance, followed by practice directly after (oh, hey deja vu from Monday!), so I’m going to get right to it.
If you’re like… what the heck is WIAW? Let me fill you in. Okay… ready?
(PS: huge shout out to Jenn, as always, for hosting!)
What I Ate Wednesday Tuesday
Yesterday’s eats involved strawberries at every opportunity. I didn’t realize it until the end of the day when I got to the bottom of my prepped container of them, and Scott goes “that’s all the strawberries we have?” Ummm…. yes. Because apparently I have a problem. My name is Heather, and I’m a strawberry-aholic. It’s fine.
Breakfast started off strong with a go-to bowl of cereal, a scoop of nut butter, and fresh strawbs (<- thanks for the abbreviation inspiration, Char!) over unsweetened almond milk.
(Kashi Go Lean Crunch Honey Almond Flax Cereal. YUM!)
I completely skipped lunch and had a series of snacks throughout the afternoon instead. Occasionally, I prefer to eat that way.
(Organic baby carrots, grape tomatoes and wheat thins dipped in Sabra Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Blackberry Non-fat Chobani Greek yogurt with Bear Naked granola and strawberries (duh), and a Double Dark Chocolate Zone Perfect protein bar!)
Scott got home about 7 p.m. and I prepped a salad to have later with him for dinner upon his return for the gym.
(Organic spring mix + baby spinach, golden tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, banana peppers, broccoli slaw, sunflower seeds, and flax seeds.)
I didn’t join his trip to the gym because I had other plans on my mind that involved running outside with Roadie.
Then it started raining.
Instead of giving up on my plan to work out, I finally tried out a coached workout on an iPhone app called PEAR Sports!
The workout switched from cardio (running, sprints, stairs) to core exercises every few minutes and included moves like mountain climbers, bicycle crunches and corkscrews. I loved it!
It was just a little over a half hour and by the time I was done, I was one sweaty girl. Roadie even joined in the majority of the cardio blasts.
He’s crazy… but the best.
Dinner came directly after a shower and I had worked up quite the appetite. Since trying to ween myself off of soy-based products, I have kept my eye out for other kinds of meat substitutions like this Qrunch Quinoa Burger.
I topped it with salsa and a little bit of shredded cheese and really, really liked it. I love quinoa. On the side, I heated up the rest of my leftover organic lentil soup (thanks Amy’s Kitchen!) and drizzled oil and vinegar over my already prepped salad.
Both Scott and I enjoyed the rest of our strawberries for dessert aside a Fiber One brownie.
I decided to get fancy by heating the brownie up first and topping it with whipped cream. It was a yummy treat for sure!
Well, friends… I guess that just about wraps it up. Hope you all have a great rest of your Wednesday. Off to get ready. Happy WIAW! 🙂

That salad looks delicious! I have been wanting to try Qurunch burgers (since they are vegan, soy, and gluten free) but have not seen them anywhere!
Heather
I got them at my local grocer: Meijer!

I’ve been all about strawberries lately too. I guess it’s just the last days of Summer making me want them even more!
I sometimes prefer the Snacky meals too. They’re just more satisfying!
Heather
I have been all about berries lately. I hope they stick around extra long this season… 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Snacking the afternoon away is pretty much my favourite thing ever. I’m not a huge fan of lunch in general, so snacking is way more enjoyable. And I’m loving all the strawberry action! Fresh fruit is SO good right now, and I’m going to be sad to see it gone in a couple of months!
Heather
Snacking is one of my favorite things to do, lol. 😉

Heather
Let me know if you do!
Alisha @ Alisha's Appetite
I tend to snack my way through lunch on the weekends. I think it’s easier and more fun to eat a little of everything when I’m at home already. And there is no such thing as too many strawberries!
Heather
Never! I’m a lover of all berries… but couldn’t agree more.
Natalie @ Lift,Sleep, Eat
